PARENT CODE OF CONDUCT

1. Introduction

Edge FA Football Academy recognises that parents and carers play a vital role in supporting the development, wellbeing and enjoyment of all players. The behaviour and attitude of adults significantly influence a child’s experience in football.

2. Purpose

To promote a safe, positive and inclusive football environment; support player development and wellbeing; encourage respect; ensure safeguarding compliance; and maintain the reputation and values of the academy.

3. Scope

This Code applies to all parents, carers, guardians and family members involved with academy activities including training sessions, matches, tournaments, events, tours and online communications.

4. Expected Standards of Behaviour

Parents and carers are expected to encourage enjoyment, support development over winning, demonstrate respect, support academy procedures, act as positive role models, promote inclusion, encourage fair play and ensure punctual attendance.

5. Unacceptable Behaviour

Abusive, threatening or discriminatory language, intimidation, harassment, coaching from the touchline, entering the field without permission, undermining coaches and inappropriate online behaviour will not be tolerated.

6. Player Preparation and Equipment Responsibilities

Parents are responsible for ensuring players arrive with suitable football boots, shin pads, appropriate clothing, academy kit where applicable, goalkeeper equipment where required and a named water bottle.

7. Medical Information and Medication

Medical information must be kept up to date. Required medication must be provided, clearly labelled, in date and communicated to coaches.

8. Nutrition and Hydration

Players should arrive appropriately hydrated, have consumed suitable nutrition and bring refreshments where requested.

9. Matchday Behaviour

Parents should support all participants positively, respect opponents and officials, applaud good play and avoid interference with coaching.

10. Photography and Filming

All parents must comply with the academy Photography and Filming Policy and respect consent arrangements.

11. Safeguarding Responsibilities

Any welfare, safeguarding or conduct concerns must be reported immediately to the Club Welfare Officer or appropriate academy representative.

12. Communication

Communication with academy staff should remain respectful, constructive and professional at all times.

13. Equality, Diversity and Inclusion

The academy promotes an environment free from discrimination, harassment and victimisation.

14. Social Media and Online Conduct

Parents must use social media responsibly and avoid content that harms players, staff or the academy.

15. Breaches of this Code

Breaches may result in warnings, attendance restrictions, suspension or termination of membership in serious cases.

16. Monitoring and Review

This Code will be reviewed annually or sooner if required.
