COACH CODE OF CONDUCT
Edge FA Football Academy expects all coaches to uphold the highest standards of behaviour, professionalism, safeguarding and respect. Coaches are role models and are responsible for creating a safe, positive, inclusive and enjoyable environment for every player.
Edge FA Football Academy and all coaches have a responsibility to promote high standards of behaviour throughout the game and to support The Football Association’s Respect programme.
1. PURPOSE
This Code of Conduct establishes the standards expected of all coaches representing Edge FA Football Academy.
2. COACH RESPONSIBILITIES
Place player welfare, safety and enjoyment above all other considerations, including winning.
Promote fair play, respect and high standards of behaviour.
Treat all players fairly, equally and with dignity.
Encourage player development, confidence and self-esteem.
3. RESPECT AND BEHAVIOUR
Show respect to all participants in football.
Adhere to the Laws of the Game and the spirit of football.
Always respect the decisions of match officials.
Never engage in offensive, insulting, abusive or discriminatory behaviour.
4. SAFEGUARDING REQUIREMENTS
Hold relevant coaching qualifications.
Complete safeguarding and first aid training.
Report safeguarding concerns immediately.
Comply with all safeguarding and welfare policies.
5. PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS
Arrive prepared and punctual.
Communicate professionally and respectfully.
Support colleagues and represent the Academy positively.
6. COACHES MUST NOT
Use abusive, discriminatory, offensive or insulting language.
Bully, intimidate or humiliate players.
Engage in inappropriate relationships.
Use physical punishment.
Consume alcohol or illegal substances during Academy activities.
Ignore safeguarding concerns.
